An afternoon in Atlanta with gita

BeltLine edition

Atlanta is one of our favorite walkable cities for a lot of reasons, and its innovative, community-connecting BeltLine is a big one. The BeltLine is a 22-mile pedestrian and bike path that repurposes unused railroad tracks. It circles the city’s core in-town neighborhoods, boasts a number of green spaces and parks, gorgeous views, original artworks, restaurants, coffee shops, and a variety of guided activities. In other words, it’s a walkable, gita-friendly heaven.

We’ve rounded up some fun activities along the BeltLine that gita the following robot would make even better. Check it out:

Go on a guided arboretum walking tour—

Enjoy fresh air, new city views, fascinating Atlanta history, and every season of horticulture interest! Come walk the Atlanta BeltLine with an expertly trained Trees Atlanta Docent and learn firsthand from a well-trained expert about Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum. A walking tour of the Atlanta BeltLine is the best way to see the progress and be active at the same time!

gita tip: Bring gita along to carry some extra bottles of water so you and your group can stay hydrated on your walk.

gita tip: Load gita up with all your workout essentials—water, towels, a second pair of shoes for the walk home. It can even carry your yoga mat thanks to its pop-up lid.

Go on an art tour—

Art on the Atlanta BeltLine celebrates the voices, experiences, and values of all Atlantans through the work of hundreds of visual artists, performers, and musicians along the Atlanta BeltLine corridor—touching almost 20 in-town communities.

You can check out the current exhibits and installations on BeltLine.org’s Art Map.

gita tip: Use gita’s Bluetooth® speaker to give your viewing a musical backdrop and really get in the artistic state of mind.

Take a visit to Aluma Farm—

Aluma Farm at Adair Park is the Atlanta BeltLine’s first agriculture site around the 22-mile corridor. The farm is privately operated, and produce is sold locally. The site serves as the Atlanta BeltLine’s pilot for an urban agriculture program that could serve as a model for other potential sites around the corridor.

gita tip: Make sure to bring gita with you when the Aluma farmstand is open (Thursdays from 4-8, April–Thanksgiving) so you can stock up on fresh, organically grown produce.

Grab a bite & some drinks—

There are a number of amazing restaurants to choose from right on the BeltLine. We’ve picked out a few with great outdoor/patio seating (read: gita-approved).

Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall

Located on the heart of the Beltline at mile marker 9.25, Ladybird Grove and Mess Hall is the place to go for campfire cuisine and a fun, outdoorsy time. Striving to be the best backyard spot on the popular trail, it definitely succeeds with its amazing menu and outside entertainment.
